Bad Homburg is a Fairtrade city

On July 4, 2013, the city council decided to seek certification as a "Fairtrade City". The application was submitted in April 2015 and subsequently reviewed by TransFair. As of June 1, 2015, Bad Homburg can now call itself a Fairtrade city. Honorary ambassador Manfred Holz presented the certificate in the Kurhaus. Recertification takes place every 2 years.

What are Fairtrade Towns?

The Fairtrade Towns campaign is supported by TransFair and brings together various stakeholders from trade, politics and civil society. The economic, social and ecological standards in fair trade make it possible to integrate more honesty and credibility into one's own actions, especially in economically difficult times. Fairtrade Towns is an international movement.

The "Fairtrade Towns" campaign started in the UK in 2000. There are now over 550 Fairtrade Towns in the UK. There are also Fairtrade villages, counties, islands, schools, universities and even Wales, the first "Fairtrade Nation". Cities in 24 countries around the world are applying for "Fairtrade Town" status. In addition to England, Belgium is particularly successful with over 110 Fairtrade Towns. In Germany, towns have been able to apply for the title since 2009.
