The Waldensian Church in Bad Homburg's city district of Dornholzhausen was initially built as a small wooden church in 1701/02 and replaced by the present-day Waldensian Church in 1724. Landgrave Frederick II of Hessen-Homburg was an absolutist ruler, but tolerant in matters of religion. Therefore. he granted asylum to French religious refugees. In the summer of 1699, he gave 40 Waldensian families 200 acres of land in Dornholzhausen. Both the exterior and interior of the church have undergone numerous conversions and alterations over time. Today, the six coloured stained glass windows remind of the history of the Waldensians.
