In 2007, the Thai royal family produced another visible sign of their affiliation to the spa town of Bad Homburg. The second Thai Sala, a small temple dedicated to peace and contemplation, was gifted to the City of Bad Hombrug by King Bhumibol and Queen Sirikit. The royal couple made only one request, that the temple be erected at Chulalongkorn Spring, just as the King Chulalongkorn had intended for the structure he had once donated. The City naturally complied with their wish. Today, the second Thai Sala stands next to the mineral spring discovered in 1907 and personally inaugurated by Chulalongkorn. Members of the Thai royal family have over the years visited Bad Homburg many times, and the time-honoured spa town is known to enjoy great admiration and respect back in Thailand. Even today, thousands of Thais living in Germany celebrate the anniversary of the death of the revered Siamese monarch, King Chulalongkorn, at the salas every year. Moreover, every summer, the Kur- und Kongreß-GmbH hosts a two-day Thai festival, which is held around the two Thai salas.
