With its lovely little castle church, Bad Homburg Castle is able to offer event organisers and music-lovers an excellent venue for classical and modern music. Famous for its eight valuable organs, which represent different styles and eras, the church underlines Bad Homburg's reputation as a "city of organs". The venue also hosts the internationally renowned FUGATO organ festival. Over the past thirty-odd years, the castle church has managed to establish itself as a popular location for cultural events, including the first edition of the German Music Competition Festival in 2019. While looking rather inconspicuous from the outside and structurally integrated into one of the castle's wings, the interior is in fact lavishly restored. The church was built in 1696 for the city's Evangelical-Lutheran Christians and also served as the burial place of the landgravial family. Some 77 of its members have found their final resting place in the crypt situated beneath the chancel.
