The Israeli writer, Samuel Joseph Agnon (1888-1970), received the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1966. With this memorial, the City of Bad Homburg pays tribute to thie famous author, known to have been a master of modern Hebrew prose. Agnon lived in Bad Homburg from 1921 to 1924, more specifically, at "Haus Imperial" on Kaiser-Friedrich-Promenade. Together with his wife, he maintained a circle of Jewish intellectuals from Eastern Europe. The memorial, created by Dina Kunze and inaugurated in 1993,  does not depict a likeness of Agnon; rather, it is dedicated to his literary creations. The bronze plates resemble a scroll depicting biographical data in both Hebrew and German as well as an excerpt of his acceptance speech upon winning "his" Nobel Prize.
