Ober-Erlenbach local history museum

The Ober-Erlenbach local history museum has been housed in the "Old School" building from 1901 since 2002, making it the oldest district museum in Bad Homburg.

In addition to the local history of the formerly independent village, it also documents finds from the Stone Age (around 5,500 BC), in particular a small "piglet" from the Bandkeramik period, which was found during excavations in 1999 and 2001.

The permanent exhibition also commemorates the Swabian farmer's son Josef Baumann (1877-1963), pioneer of fermentation-free fruit processing, his inventions, such as the sterilization bell named after him and the "Ober-Erlenbach original rubber caps", the profession of sweet must maker and the history of the state-approved Ober-Erlenbach training and research institute for fermentation-free fruit processing in 1934. His work as an educator and scientist is also highlighted. In addition, special exhibitions on particular topics relating to the Ober-Erlenbach district are presented.
