Waste glass

One hundred percent of glass can be recycled without any loss of quality. The use of recycled glass saves energy and raw materials in the production of new glass packaging, thus conserving natural resources and protecting the environment. To ensure that used glass can be optimally recycled, it must be separated into the colors white, green and brown.

In the bottle banks:

  • Empty bottles and jars
  • Pharmaceutical and cosmetic glass packaging (e.g. cough syrup, face cream)
  • Other glass packaging

Do not belong in the used glass containers:

  • Non-glass materials
  • Flat glass
  • Mirrors
  • Ceramics
  • Porcelain
  • Earthenware
  • Broken or old drinking glasses

Caps and labels

Caps and lids from jars and bottles do not need to be removed before throwing them away, but can also be disposed of separately in the Yellow Bag/Yellow Bin.

The energy and water-intensive removal of labels is also not necessary. These are removed by the recycler during processing.

Cleaning

Empty glass packaging must be completely emptied, but not rinsed or even cleaned. Avoiding a rinse cycle protects the environment.

Different colored used glass

Used glass that cannot be clearly assigned to the containers is placed in the container for green glass (e.g. blue bottles). This mixture can cope with the largest proportion of so-called off-colors during melting.
