Ober-Erlenbach local history museum

The Ober-Erlenbach local history museum has been in existence since 2002. It is located in the "Old School" building from 1901 and is the oldest district museum in Bad Homburg.

The museum shows the history of the village of Ober-Erlenbach. It also shows finds from the Stone Age. The finds are very old. They date from around 5,500 BC. One special find is a small "pig" from the Bandkeramik period. It was found during excavations in 1999 and 2001.

The permanent exhibition commemorates Josef Baumann. Josef Baumann was a Swabian farmer's son. He lived from 1877 to 1963 and was a pioneer. He processed fruit without fermentation. He made inventions. One invention is the sterilization bell. Another invention is the "Ober-Erlenbach original rubber caps". Josef Baumann was a sweet maker. The history of the Ober-Erlenbach training and research institute for fermentation-free fruit processing is shown. This institute was recognized in 1934. His work as a teacher and researcher is also on display. There are also special exhibitions. These special exhibitions show topics related to Ober-Erlenbach.

The museum is open on the first Sunday of the month. It is not open on New Year's Day, Easter and Christmas.
Admission is free.
