Gloria, Rocky's childhood sweetheart who emigrated to America, is supposed to marry an Americano according to her uncle's will. Rocky, who wants to prevent this, lacks the money for the trip across the pond. The Nonno remembers the time when honest work in mining could make a fortune in distant Germany. No sooner said than done: Rocky starts his Vespa and off he goes. After an odyssey with many adventures, Rocky lands in Gelsenkirchen together with his buddy Gianni and the German tourist Frauke. But there has been no money to be made with hard coal here for a long time. Frustrated, Rocky is back home in his village in southern Italy when suddenly the money messenger is at the door – now Rocky could go to America, but maybe he doesn't want that anymore...
