The "Hasensteine" (Hare Stones), which are barely 43 cm tall, are Bad Homburg's oldest monument. Together, the provide an interesting excerpt from the hunting history of Landgrave Frederick III Jacob von Hessen-Homburg. The inconspicuous monument, consisting of only two small stones, is located in the middle of the city's spa gardens, not far from the Thai Sala. The second of the two stones stands where the landgrave supposedly took his shot, near today's Samaritan Fountain. This location was also once the site of the shooting house of the Homburg Rifle Association.
