Situated amidst numerous historical buildings, one finds Bad Homburg's main marketplace. Here, locals and visitors meet whenever cause arises. Be it at the weekly markets or during a leisurely shopping spree on Louisenstraße, the marketplace is an area bustling with activity. The surrounding buildings actually weren't built until 1907, which was when the marketplace was created. It was Homburg's famous master builder, Louis Jacobi, who personally designed the market arbours in the half-timbered style. The farmers and merchants set up their stalls in the central area of the three-pronged group of houses. A closer look at the buildings reveals a variety of decorative elements, including their grotesque masks.
