The English Church was built at the request of the numerous British spa guests and has over time become an important cultural institution. Christian Holler built the church from 1861, its consecration, on 02 September 1868, was performed by the Lord Bishop of London. After 1914, the building was used as a local history museum and a municipal concert hall. The church underwent a phase of renovation at the beginning of the 1990s. Today, it also serves as a cultural centre, attracting countless visitors each and every year. Concerts, readings, exhibitions and much more are regularly a special atmosphere. In addition to its normal opening hours, the English Church is also open one hour before each event.
