This 3.5-metre bronze statute of Kaiser Wilhelm is "imperial" in every sense of the word. Situated only a few steps from the entrance of the historical Kaiser Wilhelm Baths and only a short walk from Casino Bad Homburg, this monument depicts the former German emperor in a general's uniform with an ermine cloak draped over him. The unveiling ceremony in 1905 was frequented by, amongst others, his grandson, Kaiser Wilhelm II, and his family, as well as much other royalty, a host of generals and their entourages, ambassadors and local dignitaries. At the ceremony, the emperor awarded a medal to the sculptor, Fritz Gerth, while the city's mayor was made "lord mayor".
