The Church of the Holy Cross was erected in the Bad Homburg city district of Gonzenheim in 1952/53. Its organ is a particularly special rarity. For the church's consecration in 1953, the municipality, headed by Lord Mayor Karl Horn, gifted the church a recently renovated organ from the English Church, a so-called Walker organ from 1867, which was visually adapted to the new church. This organ is the only surviving example of English organ manufacture in 19th-century Germany. In 1995, the instrument was restored by the London manufacturer, J.W. Walker. The organ's facade was restored to its original height by raising the church ceiling in the organ area, while the facade pipes were painted and the coat of arms restored, both true to the original.
