Have you heard of the famous "Bircher-Müsli"? The breakfast food takes its name from the Swiss physician, Dr Maximilian Oskar Bircher-Benner (1867-1939), known to be the pioneer of wholefood nutrition. A balanced diet is of course also an important factor for any spa stay. Although the famous muesli inventor had in fact nothing to do with Bad Homburg, the former Society of Good Health, which was then based in Bad Homburg, was so enamoured with his breakfast idea that in 1965 they donated a bronze bust of his likeness, created by the Frankfurt sculptor, Georg Krämer. It is known to be the first Bircher-Benner memorial in all of Germany.
