Kaiser Wilhelm II,  known for his creative eye, also involved himself in the beautification of Bad Homburg. In Spring 1910, he personally sketched a temple to surround the Auguste Victoria Source, one of Germany's most calcium-rich natural springs, which was named after his wife. Empress Auguste Victoria. Heinrich Jacobi, architect and son of Bad Homburg's famous master builder, Louis Jacobi, was charged with the construction of the Auguste Viktoria Source, it being completed a year later. The source, an acidulous sodium-chloride mineral water, is used to treat gastrointestinal complaints as well as liver and gall bladder disorders.
