Südcampus residential area

An attractive residential quarter has been created on the former Du Pont site, the SÜDCAMPUS Bad Homburg.

Together with the former landowner and investor RockCapital, the city of Bad Homburg v.d.Höhe has developed an urban development concept with the aim of creating sustainable and future-oriented living space for people of all generations and is giving up the commercial site in favor of creating new living space.

In the meantime, RockCapital has sold the land to Wüstenrot Haus- und Städtebau GmbH, based in Ludwigsburg. The urban development contract concluded between the city and RockCapital and the development contract were transferred in full to the new owner and investor Wüstenrot Haus und Städtebau.

Urban planning design concept

The former Dupont site covers an area of around 4.4 hectares, on which a general residential area with a maximum gross floor area of 52,000 square meters has been created.

The quarter consists of around 500 residential units and a variety of apartment typologies and sizes have been created to create a lively quarter for residents of all ages with a wide range of lifestyles. The majority are multi-storey residential buildings, with both owner-occupied and rental apartments on offer. Green inner areas have been created in the quarter and within the individual building plots, offering a high quality of stay.

At the edges of the area, a rather closed three- to four-storey development with elongated, contiguous buildings has been created to protect against stronger noise impacts. In the interior of the area, on the other hand, a looser development with three-storey point houses (also townhouses or terraced houses) is planned.

A spacious square has been created in the northern half of the area. This is located between the two access roads and forms the "center of the quarter". A further, elongated communal area is located in the southern half of the area, but has a more "private" character. A small "campus square" has been created on the western edge of the area opposite the Accadis University. This could also be used to accommodate other small utility facilities. The footpath and cycle path running from north to south makes it possible to cross the area.

In addition, a six-group daycare center has been built and opened opposite the accadis International School in the north-eastern part of the plan area.
