Building encumbrances

Building encumbrances represent a voluntarily assumed public-law obligation on the part of the property owner vis-à-vis the building supervisory authorities to do, tolerate or refrain from doing something that affects his property.

Building encumbrances become effective when they are entered in the register of building encumbrances, which is kept by the building supervisory authority. Building charges are transferred to legal successors when properties are sold.
