Digitization
A strong home
The state of Hesse supports municipalities and joint projects in the implementation of digitalization projects. In April 2023, the city of Bad Homburg, together with Friedrichsdorf and Wehrheim, received a positive funding approval; this was the starting signal for a great and exciting project called "Digital and smart overcoming the Limes".

The collaboration between these three municipalities of different sizes, each of which has its own challenges and solutions, is particularly remarkable. They are linked by their geographical proximity and their shared municipal remit. The project comprises a total of eight sub-projects in which the municipalities are involved in a variety of ways. Four of these projects have been launched and aim to take the first steps towards digital transformation in Bad Homburg and the municipalities concerned.

  • QR codes
In future, Bad Homburg will rely on digitalization instead of traditional information signs for a city tour. In future, so-called QR codes will be used.
  • Digital inclusion
Digital inclusion - digital exclusion: participation in a digital society. There are two perspectives on digital inclusion: inclusion WITH digital media on the one hand and inclusion IN the digital society on the other. The city of Bad Homburg is trying to give citizens - with a focus on certain age groups - access to digital media.
  • Digital town hall information
The introduction of digital town hall information aims to significantly optimize the provision of information and use of services (citizen services). This is achieved, among other things, through user-friendly preparation of the most frequently requested information, which is also made accessible without barriers. The digitalization and automation of administrative processes increases efficiency and optimizes the use of resources. In times of crisis, these portals act as important sources of information to provide citizens with timely and comprehensive information. In addition, the promotion of digitalization and the use of digital channels will be further expanded. Our goal is to continuously improve citizen services and promote digitalization for the benefit of our community.
  • Data platform & sensor technology
A data platform is a complete solution for collecting, processing, analyzing and presenting context-related data generated by systems, processes and infrastructures of a company or a network of companies. The City of Bad Homburg's data platform aims to bundle open data and convert it into usable information for both the administration and citizens. A central concern is to increase data and information transparency for the public and to improve data quality in order to create a solid basis for administrative decisions. This platform promotes cooperation and efficiency in the administration and at the same time strengthens trust in the administration. It is based on a transparent and data-based foundation in order to optimally support the interests of the community. Data from specialist applications in different areas of the Group (breaking down the "silo mentality") is consolidated and made accessible, while Smart City information is collected city-wide and in conjunction with partner municipalities and made available via cockpits in an addressee-oriented manner. From a project perspective, the overall topic "data platform" consists of several sub-topics that were set up as sub-projects: - Data platform - LoRaWAN - Environmental sensors
