Commercial waste

The new Commercial Waste Ordinance, amended on 01.08.2017, regulates the handling of commercial municipal waste and certain construction and demolition waste.
The aim is to reduce waste incineration (thermal waste treatment) for commercial waste (currently around six million tons per year). The current recycling rate of 7 percent is to be increased to at least 30 percent.

What is new?

Separate collection

In order to increase the recycling rate, waste must be collected separately directly at the source.

Documentation
The quantities of separately collected waste must be documented. Waste quantities that could not be collected separately due to technical or economic impracticality must also be documented. This "mixed waste" must be sent to a pre-treatment or processing plant.

No commercial waste at the recycling center

Please note that no commercial waste is accepted at the recycling center, as no documentation can be provided when it is handed in due to a lack of weighing.

Businesses should contact a private waste disposal company. You will find possible contact points under the search term: "private waste disposal company Rhine-Main" in your Internet search engine.
