The town of Bad Homburg v. d. Höhe highly values the voluntary work of its citizens, as it is an indispensable part of our community. This commitment is multifaceted and a key element in many areas of society, and it is impossible to imagine associations and institutions without it.
In Bad Homburg v.d. Höhe, there are around 350 associations and institutions in which citizens are involved on a voluntary basis. These are supported and promoted in a wide variety of ways. This is expressed not only through public support and awards, such as on the occasion of the "Volunteer Day" (see below), but also through very practical help such as the offer to use the volunteer search engine and the presentation on the Internet for clubs and institutions. The city of Bad Homburg v.d. Höhe offers a seminar program "Further training in voluntary work". The training program is designed to help volunteers cope with the day-to-day running of the association. The town of Bad Homburg v.d. Höhe is taking part in the Hesse state campaign for the Volunteer Card. The volunteer card was introduced as a sign of thanks and appreciation to all those who are involved in civic activities.
The "Day of Volunteering" is held every two years. Given the large number of associations and institutions active in our town with very different objectives, a division was made into the areas of "Community and Social Affairs", "Culture and Education" and "Games and Sport".
With the "Day of Volunteering", the town wants to thank the people who contribute to making Bad Homburg v.d.Höhe a lovable, diverse and humane town through their work. We are thinking of people who work "quietly" and have not already received other awards, such as the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany or the Letter of Honor of the State of Hesse.
