The city of Bad Homburg v. d. Höhe took part in CITY CYCLING 2023. Between 10 and 30 September, local politicians and citizens were called upon to cycle as many distances as possible in a climate-friendly way and collect kilometers for their team, their municipality and more cycling promotion.
With the free CITY CYCLING app, participants could conveniently track the distances cycled via GPS and credit them directly to their team and municipality.
More than 100,000 kilometers were covered during CITY CYCLING this year,saving 16,300 kg ofCO2 . 634 cyclists were active in 31 teams. The actual number of participants is significantly higher, as in some teams one person logged the kilometers for several others.
The team with the most active cyclists was Kaiserin-Friedrich-Gymnasium with 218 people, which also clearly led the field with 22,717 kilometers. Humboldt School followed immediately behind with 167 cyclists and 9,757 kilometers. The Fahrrad Denfeld Radsport team recorded fewer cyclists but more kilometers. They have 84 active cyclists and covered 13,134 kilometers. All three teams togethersaved around 7,400 kgof CO2.
As every little contribution counts, the city decided to raffle off the new Good Homburg T-shirts among all active cyclists. The winners received their new T-shirts personally from Lord Mayor Alexander Hetjes. He thanked all participants for their commitment.
The new date has already been set: Bad Homburg will be taking part together with the other municipalities in the Hochtaunus district from 01.09. to 21.09.2024.
