The district of Ober-Erlenbach has had a local advisory council since 1972. This is stated in the Hessian municipal code. The local advisory council was created as a result of the territorial reform.

The citizens of Ober-Erlenbach elect the members of the local advisory council. This takes place at the same time as the election of the town councillors. The members work on a voluntary basis for their district. The local advisory council discusses important issues in the district. It also discusses the budget. The local advisory council can make proposals that affect Ober-Erlenbach.
The local advisory council has nine members.
For the CDU: Martin Burk, Sighild Drnikovic, Angelika Hartmann, Monika Kohlmann, Dr. Christian Waller.
For the GRÜNEN: Wolfgang Eilers, Inge-Lore Kausen.
For the SPD: Wilma Schnorrenberger, Onno Onneken.
The local chairman is Martin Burk. Angelika Hartmann represents him.
