The loan period depends on the type of medium!

Books, games, audio books, language courses, media combinations and cards can be borrowed for 28 days.

Bestsellers (books and audio books) can be borrowed for 21 days.

Music CDs, console games, CD-ROMs, magazines and DVD non-fiction films can be borrowed for 14 days.

Feature films on DVD and BluRay discs can be borrowed for 7 days.

Yes, all media can be renewed twice, unless another reader has pre-ordered the medium.

You can renew items at the counter during service hours. Or during opening hours at the self-checkout machines or at any time on the Internet at wwwopac.bad-homburg.de

You can return your media at the counter during service hours. In the main branch, you can return items at any time via the letterbox.
In Ober-Erlenbach, the return machine on the ground floor is available during opening hours.

You can also entrust others with the return, as the reader's card is not required for this.

Please only return media to the branch where you borrowed them.

• If you have lost your reader card, please contact us. We can block the card to prevent misuse.
  A new reader's card can be issued at any time during service hours. Please bring your identity card with you.
  The replacement card costs € 2.50 up to the 16th birthday and € 5.00 from the age of 16.
• If you have lost media, supplements or game material, please provide a replacement. In addition, up to €4.50 may be charged for the replacement. If the item cannot be replaced, a flat rate will be charged.
• If you have lost personal items in the library, please contact us. We keep lost property for some time, after which we send it to the lost and found office in the town hall.

• If the item is damaged before you borrow it, please contact us. We will make a note of this in the catalog so that the damage does not fall back on you.
• If the item is damaged when you return it, we will decide on a case-by-case basis whether to replace it.

A user fee of €12.00 per year applies to anyone aged 18 and over. Exemption is possible in certain cases. All other fees are avoidable.

• Reminder fees are charged according to the usage regulations if you return media too late.
• A fee of €1.00 is charged per advance order.

Further charges for special services can be found in the user regulations.

• You can log into the web catalog for fees up to €25 and view the fees under "My account" and pay directly. You can also pay by credit card or Paypal.
• To pay your fees in cash or by EC card, you can use the cash machine in the café at the main branch during opening hours.
  In Ober-Erlenbach, payment can only be made in cash to staff during service hours.
• You can also pay outstanding fees by bank transfer. Please state the number of your library card and FAD 138217 in the subject line.
  For internal reasons, it may take up to 14 days before the payment can be booked.

Yes, media that can generally be borrowed but are not currently available can be pre-ordered. We charge a fee of €1.00 for each pre-order.
You can do this directly at the StadtBibliothek or via our Internet catalog.

As we unfortunately have very little storage space, we can only accept 10 books and other media per visit and day. Please note that no media older than 5 years will be accepted.

Yes, as a guest you can also use the W-LAN in our rooms free of charge with your terminal device.

To use the PCs with Internet access, you need a valid reader's card and it costs €0.15 per 5 minutes.

We offer regular school internships, student internships or internships for trainees from other libraries/archives.

Please note that internships are limited and in high demand.

Places for school internships are only available again for 2027.
