Residential development on the Vickers site

Conceptaplan GmbH has built a residential area on the old "Vickers-Areal" and the Humboldt School sports hall site. It is located in the city. There are many apartments, a supermarket and childcare facilities.

The city and Stadtwerke Bad Homburg have renewed the roads and pipes. They have built in three sections. The streets are called Frölingstraße, Schaberweg and Schleußnerstraße. The city has also implemented the cycling concept. The city councillors approved it in the fall of 2018.

Investor competition

The city council approved a concept on 13.03.2014. The concept is called "Vickers-Areal". The city of Bad Homburg v. d. Höhe owns the land. The city has held a competition for investors. The competition was held throughout Europe. The investors had to make offers. The investors had to rent out 30% of the apartments at a reasonable price. The apartments are for people with little money. The investors also had to build childcare facilities. The childcare facility has around 150 places. The investors also had to build a store.

Urban planning concept

There are many apartment buildings on the site. There are also some townhouses in the neighborhood.

Three large residential buildings are planned along Frölingstrasse. Each house has four storeys and an additional attic storey. The houses look similar and together form three structures. The so-called gallery houses are located along Schaberweg. These houses also have four storeys and an additional attic storey. They form the southern end of the area. Inside there are quiet residential courtyards. No cars drive there. The courtyards have small terraced houses with three storeys. There are many green areas, private gardens and paths for the neighbors. These areas are for all residents. They are intended to improve the quality of living. In the east of the area, a large house with five storeys and an additional attic storey is planned. There are underground garages beneath the residential area. They can be accessed from Frölingstraße and Schaberweg.

There is a center in the southwest of the district. The center is for supplies. The Schaberweg leads to the center. There is a supermarket on the first floor. The supermarket has all groceries. There is also a bakery. The bakery has a café. There is childcare on the upper floor. The childcare is called "Gipfelstürmer". There is also an outdoor area. The childcare is open. There are parking spaces. The parking spaces are in the underground garage. There are also parking spaces on the first floor. The parking spaces are in the building.

There is a square to the east of the planned local shopping center. The square is accessible to everyone. Two paths lead from north to south. The paths are for pedestrians. The paths connect the area with the surrounding area. The new residential area is in the city. It is of high quality. The paths are open. They fit in with the existing structures. The local supermarket and the day care center are good for the area.

Planning law

The Bad Homburg municipal council adopted a plan on 11.04.2019. The plan is called development plan no. 26 "Frölingstraße, Schleußnerstraße, Schaberweg", 1st amendment. The regional council has approved the plan. The plan has been valid since 15.07.2019.
