In the course of the Focus on the Future Bad Homburg 2030 process, many citizens mentioned the parks and green spaces as special qualities.
The forests of the Taunus, orchards and meadows, fields and, last but not least, the parks and streams throughout the city - they all show the rich diversity of Bad Homburg's landscape and characterize the cityscape and landscape. The differences in altitude are also considerable: they range from 683 meters above sea level at Klingenkopf on the Taunus ridge line down to around 130 meters above sea level at Erlenbach in Ober-Erlenbach.
Preserving the diversity of the landscape and inner-city open spaces for future generations and developing them sustainably are important tasks. The wide range of issues include, for example
- safeguarding and designing open spaces and green areas close to residential areas,
- the preservation and development of the diversity of species and biocoenoses typical of natural areas,
- the protection and development of typical natural and historical cultural landscapes, especially for recreational purposes,
- the protection and promotion of biologically functional soils and water cycles and
- the renaturation of watercourses.
