App extension

This project realizes an extension of the existing stamp pass app of the city of Bad Homburg for touristic purposes. The app uses QR codes and augmented reality technology to offer tourists and locals an interactive experience. (Augmented reality is a medium that consists of a virtual extension of reality with three-dimensionally registered and real-time interactive elements. These should be presented to users as if they were part of the real world using suitable systems that appeal to one or more senses)

The stamp pass app uses QR codes and augmented reality technology to offer tourists and locals an interactive experience. This was expanded as part of the Smart City field of action in order to achieve greater benefits for users.

Main features:

  • QR code exploration: Users* can scan QR codes at various locations to discover special places of interest.
  • Historical comparison images: The app shows historical images of the locations to illustrate their changes over time.
  • Hazel, the mascot: Users* can capture the city's mascot.
  • Time loops: In future, users will be able to experience historical scenes at the original locations.

Goals and benefits:

  • Tourism promotion: Increasing the attractiveness of Bad Homburg as a tourist destination.
  • Education and entertainment: Linking historical information with modern technology.
  • City marketing: Effective marketing of the city and its cultural heritage.
  • Promoting innovation: Introducing augmented reality technology and promoting progress.
