Bestsellers (books and audio books) can be borrowed for a shorter period.

You can borrow music CDs, console games, CD-ROMs, magazines and DVD non-fiction films for even shorter periods.

You can only borrow feature films on DVD and BluRay discs for a short time.

Yes, you can renew all media twice. Another reader may not have pre-ordered the item.

You can renew at the counter. This is possible during service hours. You can also renew items at the self-checkout machines. This can be done during opening hours. Or you can renew online. You can do this at any time at wwwopac.bad-homburg.de

You hand in your media at the counter. This is possible during service hours. There is a letterbox in the main branch. You can always return media there.
There is a return machine in Ober-Erlenbach. The machine is on the first floor. You can use it during opening hours.

Other people can return media for you. You do not need a library card for this.

Please only return media to the place where you borrowed them.

• If you have lost your reader card, please call us. We will block the card. That way nobody can misuse it.
  We will issue a new reader card. This is always possible during service hours. Please bring your identity card with you.
  The new card costs little if you are under 16. It costs more if you are older.
• If you have lost media, supplements or game material, please get a replacement. You may still have to pay for the processing. If the media cannot be replaced, we will set an amount.
• If you have lost personal items in the library, please contact us. We will keep the items for a while. Then we will send them to the lost and found office in the town hall.

• The item is broken before you borrow it. Please contact us. We will write it in the catalog. The damage is not your fault.
• The item is broken when you return it. We decide on a case-by-case basis. You may have to provide a replacement.

All persons aged 18 and over pay a fee. The fee is a lot. You pay the fee every year. Exemption is sometimes possible. You can avoid other fees.

• You pay reminder fees if you return media too late.
• You pay a fee for each advance order.

Other fees for special services are listed in the user regulations.

• You can log in to the web catalog. This works for charges up to 25 euros. You can see the fees under "My account". You can pay the fees directly. This can also be done by credit card or Paypal.
• You can pay the fees in cash or by EC card. You can do this at the main office. The pay machine is located in the café. This is possible during opening hours. In Ober-Erlenbach you can only pay in cash. This can be done during service hours with the staff.
• You can also transfer the fees. Enter the number of your library card in the subject line. Please also quote FAD 138217. It can take up to 14 days for the payment to be booked.

Yes, you can pre-order media. The media are normally available to borrow. But they are not available at the moment. You pay a fee of €1.00 for each pre-order.
You can make a pre-order at the StadtBibliothek. Or you can use our Internet catalog.

We have little space. We only accept a few books and other media per visit and day. The media must not be older than 5 years.

Yes, as a guest you can also use the W-LAN in our rooms free of charge with your device.

To use the PCs with Internet access, you need a valid library card. It costs little money for five minutes.

We offer internships for pupils, students and trainees from other libraries or archives.

Send us your application. The application consists of a cover letter, a CV and a certificate. Send the application by e-mail to stadtbibliothek@bad-homburg.de.

Please note: There are only a few internships available. Many people want to do an internship.

Places for school internships are not available again until 2027.
