History of Ober-Eschbach
Ober-Eschbach was first mentioned in 772. In the 13th century, there was Ober-Eschbach and Nieder-Eschbach. Ober-Eschbach grew around the church and two farms. The wall around the village was built in the 15th century.
Ober-Eschbach became Lutheran in 1596. The Count of Hanau brought the faith. A Lutheran congregation then developed. In 1731, the church "Zur Himmelsforte" was opened. At the same time, there was a Reformed group. Later, both groups became a Lutheran-Reformed congregation. They used the new Lutheran church. The old church became a town hall. Around 1900, people lived from agriculture. Later, there was hosiery weaving and dairy trading. In 1972, Ober-Eschbach became part of Bad Homburg. The municipality belonged to Hesse and was located in the Friedberg district. The connection to the spa town was strong. Ober-Eschbach has a village character and traditions. The district continues to grow. New residential areas are being integrated into social and cultural life.
