Gonzenheim is located in the center. The infrastructure is good. There is an S-Bahn station in Gonzenheim. Part of the "Mitte" office and business park is also in Gonzenheim.

Infrastructure

Gonzenheim is located between the city center of Bad Homburg and Ober-Eschbach. The district is easy to reach by public transport. The U2 underground line to Frankfurt/Südbahnhof ends here. Various city buses run frequently. Pappelallee provides quick access to the highway.

There are many childcare options. There is an elementary school and a grammar school. The Maria Ward School is also here. The Gonzenheim district center is a meeting place. It offers advice and education. Senior citizens can take part in courses. The Tatjana Gerdes House is on Wingertsberg. This is a retirement and nursing home.

There are many clubs. The clubs offer sport, culture and social activities. There is a sports field. There is a sports hall. The clubhouse is next to the fire station. The Catholic church and the Protestant church do a lot in the community. Gonzenheim has a cemetery. The cemetery is in the Kaiser-Friedrich-Promenade. There are many stores.

Culture, leisure and surroundings

There are many fields and meadows to the north and south of the district. The Seedammbad is a popular leisure attraction. It is a family pool. You can swim there all year round. Opposite is the Taunus Therme thermal baths.

The social and cultural life is in the old town center. It is between Alt Gonzenheim and Kirchgasse up to Gunzoplatz. There is a local history museum in the clubhouse. It is run by the historical working group. The railroad interest group has a model layout there.

History of Gonzenheim

There are archaeological finds in Gonzenheim. These findings show that people lived there very early on. Gonzenheim was first mentioned in a document in 1367. The community was initially Catholic. It became Protestant around 1525. For a long time, Gonzenheim was a village of farmers. At the end of the 19th century, people wanted the village to grow. A railroad station was built. The station was on the territory of Gonzenheim. However, the village only became better connected with the new railroad line, which is now a subway. This line was completed in 1910.

On April 1, 1937, Gonzenheim became part of a larger town. This was decided by the Chief President of Hesse-Nassau. There were many disputes before that. The borders were often changed. After that, the village changed rapidly. There were more streets and houses. a settlement was built in 1955. This settlement was for people who came from Marienbad and the Egerland.

Gonzenheim local council

There has been a local advisory council in Dornholzhausen since 1972. This is stated in the agreements on incorporation. The citizens elect the local council in the local elections. The rights and duties of the local advisory council are set out in the Hessian municipal code. The local advisory council can comment on all issues. These questions concern the district. The committee normally meets every month. The meetings are held in the clubhouse. The meetings are open to the public.
