The participation of all Bad Homburg residents in local political projects is of central importance in Bad Homburg v. d. Höhe. In order to give citizen participation a firm framework, citizens, the municipal administration and politicians have been working together since the beginning of 2020 to develop a guideline for citizen participation.
The aim is to expand transparency and knowledge sharing as central building blocks of a living culture of citizen participation, as is also set out as an important goal in the Bad Homburg 2030 ISEK direction book.
Despite the restrictions imposed by the Covid-19 pandemic, it was possible to gather concerns, ideas and requirements for the guideline from the perspective of a wide range of stakeholders in direct discussions, workshops and online in 2020.
The central work is carried out by a development team made up of citizens (12 people), administration (5 people) and politicians (7 people). The team summarizes all concerns, evaluates the suggestions and additions from the various participation formats and jointly formulates the guideline.
The guideline was published online in November 2020 for broad, public and transparent commentary. The comments received here were taken into account by the development team in the latest version of the guideline and subsequently adopted.
