Sustainability projects by junior staff
Welcome to the website of the sustainability project group for junior staff. Here you will find all the information you need about the 2023 gift sponsorship campaign and much more!

Who is behind the sustainability project?

As part of their training at Bad Homburg City Council, every new year of trainees in administration has been working on a sustainability project since 2021.

We, the trainees and students, want to raise awareness of the topic of sustainability.
After all, simple tips and even small changes in consumer behavior or everyday life can have useful effects and reduce the ecological footprint of each individual.

Current campaign

The Gift Sponsor Campaign

In cooperation with the district and family center Dornholzhausen and the Louisen Arkaden, a gift sponsorship campaign is taking place again this year. As junior employees of the city administration, we are happy to support this particularly nice campaign and give it a special touch. We would like to include the topic of sustainability in the campaign.

The Gift Sponsor Campaign enables socially disadvantaged children to make a wish for Christmas through the various Bad Homburg institutions. These wishes will be hung on the Christmas tree in the Louisen Arkaden during the campaign period (23.11. - 09.12.). At the sales hut, one or more wishes can be purchased and a child's Christmas wish fulfilled.
The wish is chosen individually, you only pay the costs.
We take care of the procurement and packaging. The gifts will be handed over on a separate date and will be taken care of by the SFZ Dornholzhausen before Christmas.

But what does this have to do with sustainability?

During the campaign period, we will be focusing more on the topic of sustainability and will be happy to give you a few tips along the way. And as Christmas is just around the corner, we will also be happy to provide tips on sustainable gift-giving.

Sustainability tips for everyday life

In the following, we have compiled various tips that you can use to contribute to sustainable action by making small adjustments to your everyday life.

    • Buy second-hand, refurbished or fair trade products

Past activities of the sustainability project group

The 3rd year of junior staff at the city administration is already supervising a project on the topic of sustainability. Here is a brief look back at the activities of previous years:

  • "Simply save energy". Together with the Department for Climate Protection, Environment and Mobility, the project group published a regular internal newsletter with information, tips and tricks on the subject of saving energy. Each newsletter focused on a specific action, e.g. how energy can be saved in the respective month. This focus on one topic meant that the project group was able to work intensively on one topic in order to find new tips and tricks for the employees of the municipal group.

  • "Click instead of print - sustainable for Bad Homburg". The junior staff of the 2021 recruitment year have been planning and implementing this project together since they started at the orientation days. The overall result consisted of the creation of a survey and a video shoot with our mayor Dr. Oliver Jedynak. The aim of this survey was not only to take stock of current measures, but also to identify whether there is a need for further action. In this way, sustainability in the city of Bad Homburg should also be promoted in the future.
