Support for climate protection projects

Here you can find climate protection projects from the town of Bad Homburg v.d.Höhe. These projects have received money from the state.

KSI: depot gets new LED lamps

The depot has installed new LED lamps outside on Nehringstraße and in two workshops. The new lamps have many advantages. The new lamps require less electricity. They also emit less CO2. The workshops are now brighter. That's good for work.

The work started in 2018. They were completed this year. A lot of money was spent on the lamps. The outdoor lamps cost a lot of money. The lamps in the workshops also cost a lot of money. The refurbishment was important. The Federal Ministry for the Environment gave money. The money came from the National Climate Protection Initiative. The German Bundestag approved it. There have been many projects since 2008. The Federal Ministry for the Environment supports these projects. These projects help to produce fewer greenhouse gases.

The workshops are now much brighter. That is a good thing. The new lamps save a lot of electricity. That's more than 70 percent less electricity than before. That saves a lot of CO2. In the next few years, LED lamps will also be installed in other buildings. That will help to save even more CO2.

KSI: Replacing the mushroom lamp with an LED

The Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety has launched a program. It is for cities and social and cultural institutions. The town of Bad Homburg v.d.Höhe applied. It has received money. It is about 13,600 euros. The money is for an LED light. The light saves energy.

The first project was in 2009, when lights were replaced on Hessen- and Hindenburgring.

There was a survey in the Chattenweg residential area. The city and the Taunus-Zeitung newspaper conducted it. Seven different LED lights were installed. The choice fell on the "Spanish Hat". Since January 2013, 56 mushroom lights have been replaced. The new model is being installed. This cost a total of 54,400 euros.

The new lights will last 20 years. They consume less electricity. This produces less carbon dioxide. In 20 years, 320 tons less carbon dioxide will be produced.

The town of Bad Homburg v.d.Höhe hopes to save energy. It wants to be a role model for other towns. The results should help. They should help with decisions for new projects.
