The city of Bad Homburg is committed to insect- and climate-friendly front gardens.

There is no second chance to make a first impression. What a friendly facial expression is in a greeting, the front garden is in a built environment. While some gardens invite you to linger with their natural, colorful splendor, others appear gray and hostile due to gravel and stones. The city of Bad Homburg wants to emphasize the advantages of green, lively gardens, especially front gardens, over gravel or pebble gardens. The costs involved are often no higher than for a gravel garden. The rumor that a gravel garden does not require any work is also not true; weeds also find their way through stones. Especially in times of climate change, all green spaces, no matter how small the front garden, are important for the microclimate. Every square meter of revitalized, permeable soil with plant growth counts. In the summer months, any planting contributes to more balanced temperatures. Green gardens also provide valuable habitats for small mammals, insects and birds. The brochure "Leben im blühenden Vorgarten" (Life in the flowering front garden) provides inspiration and important planning tips on how to proceed when designing your garden, what you should think about and how you can use certain plant groups.
