Digitization
Digital administration
In Bad Homburg, the digitalization of administration is being driven forward, in particular through the introduction of electronic files (eFiles). There is also the concept of "digitization pilots", which was launched in 2020 and has been continuously developed ever since. The digitalization pilots act as the first point of contact for digitalization issues and provide training for specialist applications such as Microsoft Teams. In addition, guidance on the use of IT systems was provided, a digital workshop (exchange on digital topics) was set up and questionnaires on communication behavior were established.
The eFile has become a key element for administration and is supported by the Fabasoft eGov-Suite. This suite provides file plans for various organizational units and enables the filing of electronic documents. The city has also taken measures to promote electronic legal transactions and enable secure communication with the courts. Internal communication is increasingly handled electronically and paper-based processes are being replaced by workflows. The introduction of an electronic inbox makes it possible to manage and distribute incoming mail in electronic form. The long-term storage of files is also being improved. The City of Bad Homburg relies on electronic mail to save resources and enable location-independent processing. This is also being driven forward as part of the Online Access Act (OZG), which requires the digital provision of administrative services.
