Announcement regarding pressure measurements in the water pipe network of Stadtwerke Bad Homburg v. d. Höhe

On the basis of the DVGW regulations, every water supplier is required to carry out prudent and forward-looking network planning in order to maintain and optimize the drinking water network and ensure security of supply. Stadtwerke Bad Homburg fulfills this obligation with IT support using special software that maps the actual drinking water network in a computer network.

This software-supported calculation model of the drinking water network must be calibrated regularly. To this end, pressure measurements and short drinking water withdrawals will now be carried out at selected hydrants throughout the city in the period between 09.05.2022 and 05.08.2022.

These pressure measurements will be carried out on predetermined "measurement nights" between 10 p.m. and approx. 6 a.m. The exact schedule can be found on page 2 of the attached notice.

Stadtwerke Bad Homburg v. d. Höhe asks for your understanding that there may be pressure fluctuations and turbidity in the water pipe network during the measurements! This turbidity is not harmful to health.

If possible, no watershould be taken during the night of the measurement, as possible turbidity could be flushed into the house connections or clog filters.

Only a calibrated and calculated water pipe network with actual flow rates for strategic planning will conserve our water resources!

The next pressure measurement in the water pipe network will take place from Tuesday, 21.06.2022 22:00 to Wednesday, 22.06.2022 6:00.

Gas crisis preparedness

Natural gas is an important part of the energy supply in Germany. Around 25% of the primary energy supply is covered by natural gas. It is used in particular to generate electricity and heat and as a fuel. Natural gas is also extremely important as a raw material for industry.

In the unlikely scenario of a shortage in the supply of natural gas for political reasons, regulations and laws have been passed at EU and federal level in order to be as well prepared as possible. In an emergency situation, both the Federal Network Agency and the responsible network operator play an important role in identifying potential savings. This means, for example, that preparations can be made to reduce the supply of natural gas to certain consumers. Household customers are currently particularly protected (e.g. by §53a EnWG).

Information on the water meter installation - water meter bracket

In anticipation of the upcoming water meter change, the customers concerned were again informed by letter this year that a corresponding water meter connection bracket must be installed in every domestic installation (water consumption system).

Further information can be found in the information sheet on water meter installation attached to our website.

If you are affected by this, we therefore ask you to arrange for the above-mentioned installation of a water meter bracket immediately. Please note that the installation may only be carried out by a registered contract installation company.

The required water meter connection bracket can be purchased by you or your installer from specialist retailers or from Stadtwerke Bad Homburg.

You will be informed of the exact date of the announced main water meter change in a separate appointment letter.

Thank you for your support.
