Groundwater monitoring
A system for monitoring groundwater has been in place since 2003. This is called groundwater monitoring. A lot has been done for this. The system is still being continued. Initially, more than 350 wells and measuring points were recorded. They were evaluated and checked. Then they looked to see if they could monitor the groundwater everywhere. They found out: It was not enough. That's why around 30 new monitoring points were built. There are now around 70 monitoring sites. These monitoring points are permanent. They are part of groundwater monitoring. The data is evaluated every year. The groundwater levels are measured. They also look at what is in the water. For example, nitrate from agriculture. Or old pollutants. We also measure how deep the groundwater is underground. This information is important. It helps to identify dangers. Then you can do something about it. More information can be found in the report and on the maps. These can be downloaded.
Flood zones
The RP Darmstadt has defined areas. These areas can be flooded. These are the areas of Erlenbach, Eschbach and Seulbach. More information can be found on the website of the Darmstadt Regional Council.
