Please take note of the following legal formalities:

Marriage applications are to be filed with the registry office ("Standesamt") in the primary or secondary city of residence of one of the marrying parties. This also gives the registry office in Bad Homburg the power to exercise the contraction of marriage.

Your local registry office will also advise you about the necessary documents and requirements.

To guarantee the wedding date you arrange with the Bad Homburg registry office, your complete documents must be received by that office at least 14 days in advance.

The contraction of marriage may take place in the presence of one or two witnesses, as the marrying parties wish. Witnesses must be of legal age (in Germany, this is 18 or older).

Should one or both of the betrothed or their witnesses be foreigners and not have command of the German language, the marriage ceremony must take place with the assistance of a sworn interpreter. The costs arising from this service are to be borne by the marrying parties.

Marriage ceremonies in the "Kaiser-Wilhelms-Bad" can only take place on those Saturdays agreed by the Bad Homburg registry office in coordination with Kur- und Kongreß-GmbH.
